NUMBERS OF THE MONTH

  #91 - LJ Racing (1997-1998)  

This very forgotten about team ran for two years with sponsorship from Spam. Running a best of fifth with Todd Bodine at Atlanta in 1998. Team owner Joe Falk would later run a team, Circle Sport that would run in the 2010’s.

#8 - Dale Earnhardt Inc. (1999-2007)

This number is synominous with Dale Earnhardt Jr. This number adorned the side of his car full-time from 2000 to 2007 with sponsor Budweiser riding with him. This number remains one of the most iconic numbers in the sports history.

#6 - Roush Racing (1988-1989)

This number style started it all when Mark Martin took Michigan based Jack Roush out on the track for the first time, they chose the number 6 because it was the only single digit number available in 1988. This car was paired with Strohs Light.

#47 - Race Hill Farms (1981-1987)

The little team that could, based out of Connecticut, Race Hill Farm Team is best remembered for its upset wins with Ron Bouchard in 1981 at Talladega and Morgan Shepherd in 1986 at Atlanta. This team was the last non U.S. South based team to win until Furniture Row in 2011.

RACE TEAMS OF THE MONTH

Melling Racing (1982-2003)

The pride of the blue oval in the 1980’s, this team dominated with Georgian Bill Elliott behind the wheel, led by his brother in crew chief and engine builder, Ernie. This team won the 1988 championship driving the iconic Coors/Melling Thunderbird. This team is also known for running the Spam, Cartoon Network, and Kodiak cars in the late 90’s and early 2000’s.

  23XI Racing (2020-Present)  

A joint team effort by two legends if their own craft, the GOAT, Michael Jordan and the Deliveranator, Denny Hamlin. Teamed up to run a car in 2021 with Bubba Wallace. The team currently runs with three teams, the 23, 35, and 45 with Bubba Wallace, Riley Herbst, and Tyler Reddick in those respective rides along with Corey Heim in the 67 car, part time for them.

MB2 Motorsports (1997-2006)

One of the great mudpack teams on the “primetime” era of NASCAR, MB2 is known for running many schemed including the original M&M’s car with Ken Schrader on the 36, the 10 Valvoline car with Johnny Benson and the 01 U.S. Army car with Jerry Nadeau and Joe Nemechek. Benson and Nemechek brought home wins for the team in 2002 and 2004 respectively.

M.C. Anderson Racing (1976-1982)

This team was here for a good time but not a long time, owned by Savannah, GA businessman, Morgan Cuyler “M.C.” Anderson, this team ran with greats such as Buddy Baker, Benny Parsons and Cale Yarborough. Benny Parsons ran the first onboard camera in NASCAR in his 27 MC Anderson car in the 1979 Daytona 500. This team was sold off to Raymond Beadle in 1983 to form Blue Max Racing.
